Mixing it up

So I have not been doing too much this summer because were expecting our first child any day now.  Today I took old resin panels and layered them on top of one another to try and come up with interesting compositions that can never be recreated on a larger scale.  Then I photographed them. These are some of the results.

Yeiser Opening

Here are a few pictures of the opening of my show Illumination at the Yeiser Art Center.  It was a great opening night with a great continuos flow of people throughout the show.  The interactive light box seemed to be a success and having DJ Urban Kobb there to DJ the night I think really added to the evening.  The Yeiser did a wonderful job of hosting the evening and providing refreshments and food for those that attended.
All of these photos were taken by John Paul Henry
The show continues until March 23, so if you have a chance please don't miss it.

Yeiser Art Center

Its that time again,  where I get to set up another show.  This was about a week long process of getting everything hung.  Yeiser was very open to letting me have the run of things of where they went and how I wanted the show to look.  Here are some photos of just getting it set up along with a press release the Paducah Sun did.  More from the opening night soon.  The show is open from March 2nd - 23rd.

Interactive

So this is my new interactive piece, the idea came from a video I saw on youtube.  I have a show that is happening in a couple of weeks and wanted this painting to be apart of the show.  When I went home to load up the LLCC show my dad and I constructed this box.
The idea is to have a box that you can paint on with tempura and then wipe off the paint to create an image, to do this I needed to make a box that a piece of plexi-glass can slide in and out of to clean off.
This was the construction  of the box.  After it was completed I thought that it needed a little more light, so I added a couple extra lights.  Also this could not of been done without the help of my Dad, hopefully next time we make a box it won't be cold.
Pictures of it in action hopefully will be coming soon.

LLCC Show

Here are some official pictures from what the show looked like right before I took it down.  It was a great space to have a show and everyone was very accommodating.

LLCC Setup

I have a new show opening at the James S Murray Gallery at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL this month.  The show is going to run from Jan 14th-Feb 8th.  I was a graduate of LLCC in 2003 and it will be my first show back in the Springfield area.  I am pretty excited to showcase my work in central Illinois.  Here are a few shots of the show going up.  More will be posted opening night.  Which is Jan 19th at 5pm.
